Leavers Hoodies Company is based in Leicestershire and over the years we have regularly supplied many local schools as well as schools from across the UK, with personalised clothing for school trips.
What has been extremely interesting given our location is how many of the school trips we are contacted about actually take place in and around Leicester! Here are some of the most common ones that we have come across which show how popular Leicestershire is for school trips.
The National Space Centre
Home to the largest planetarium in the UK, a 42m high rocket tower and a 3D educational space mission simulator experience (one of only two of this type outside of North America) , it’s easy to see why The National Space Centre is a unique and award-winning location to take students who are keen to learn and have fun.
As well as a wide variety of options for school visits, The National Space Centre also offers sleepover events for primary school groups. For more information, see: https://spacecentre.co.uk/.
King Richard III Visitor Centre
Less than 5 years ago, the body of King Richard III was found in a Leicester car park. Today, schools can see the exact space it was found and in what position, at the King Richard III Visitor Centre.
In addition to the main attraction, the centre provides excellent and innovative ways to tell the story of King Richard III, providing students with the opportunity to learn about his life and how he died, as well as how he was quickly buried.
Popular with science trips as well as history trips, the exhibition features genome sequencing of ancient DNA, which was achieved for the first time ever when King Richard III was discovered. For more information, see: https://kriii.com/.
Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre
Continuing with the King Richard III theme, Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre is situated where the Battle of Bosworth took place in 1485. Learning sessions delivered here include re-enactions and role play sessions, as well as the chance to view real artefacts from the War of the Roses. For more information, see: http://www.bosworthbattlefield.org.uk/.
The Curve Theatre
The Curve Theatre is a state of the art theatre, based in Leicester’s Cultural Quarter. It is different to traditional theatres as it does not feature a backstage area, which is conducive to audiences developing an appreciation and understanding of the full theatre production process.
Managed as a registered charity, The Curve is accessible to all and provides access to understand, enjoy and participate in theatre for people of all ages and backgrounds. This includes working with schools, colleges and university alike to deliver a range of cultural experiences and opportunities with its expert-led learning programmes. For more information, see: http://www.curveonline.co.uk.
Beaumanor Hall
Set in 34 acres of countryside, Beaumanor Hall is a large Victorian country house that caters for weddings, corporate events and a wide range of outdoor activities for school trips.
With outdoor learning experiences provided for Foundation Stage school trips, right through to trips for Post 16 students, activities range from adventure activities such as abseiling to learning team skills, nature studies and historical themed learning. What’s more, activities can be tailored to support any area of the curriculum, specific to individual schools and academies.
School trips can be day trips or residential trips, as Beaumanor Hall has overnight accommodation. For more information, see: https://www.beaumanorhall.co.uk.
